Thoughts

I just returned from NY celebrating the life of Uncle Dennis. Starting on Thursday August 19, friends and family gathered at St. Hughes church in Huntington. This is the same church where Uncle Dennies served as an Altar Boy, where my Mother and Father were married and where I served my first communion. You could feel Uncle Dennis's presence throughout the service and knew he felt the love of everyone present. We all then moved to Pinelawn where Uncle Dennis received military service. This was quite moving and well deserved of a great hero. Family and friends all met at Freddy Fusaro's house where we shared stories and thoughts of Uncle Dennis. This was amazing as friends and family connected after years of not seeing one another yet were able to interact as if there was no lost time. This was a gathering that Uncle Dennis would have loved. He truley enjoyed these moments where he could take center stage telling stories and reminicing. Throughout the entire weekend I could feel Uncle Dennis's presence. Even when My Father and I played golf at Swan Lake (one of Uncle's favorite hangouts). Dad told stories of odd shots and times of laughter. My final night in NY, Dad, Marge and I took Grandma out to dinner. Grandma was not feeling well and in fact was reluctant to go. After being at the restaurant for a while, Grandma started to loosen up. She shared the best stories of when she was a young woman, meeting my Grandfather Anthony. I saw a side of her that night that I will NEVER forget. She was funny and witty and could not stop sharing. After dinner we all drove to 40 North St, where she lived as a young woman. This, for me, was an amazing weekend and one I will NEVER forget. It seemed that Uncle Dennis was there every step of the way, making it fun and full of love...Just the way he would have wanted it.

Dennis was not only my older Brother but he was my best friend. We went to High school together, had some of the same classes, went into the millitary at the same time and partied together when on leave. In Florida we lived about 10 mintes away and we were always at each others house. I can't imagine anyone missing him more except our Mom and Jeanette. Den's sense of humor, attitude, strength, generousity and character made him larger than life. We will all miss him so. Love you Bro George

Like all of us, I have many great memories with Uncle Dennis and the first one that comes to my mind is my visit with him in 2009. My Father and I visited with Uncle Dennis in late February of 2009. Uncle Dennis cooked the best meals and we sat around the table for hours talking, telling life stories and reminiscing. What I saw those nights was the true Uncle Dennis; he was funny, charasmatic and charming. The three of us laughed and had a wonderful time. The biggest take away for me was his strength. He NEVER complained about being sick and always felt "wonderful". He showed an amazing inner strength and will to live and be happy. I will ALWAYS remember Uncle Dennis as the happiest, funniest and most giving person with the largest heart
